Trail Riding Workshop

 

What:              Preparation and Fun/Safe Trail Riding, Parelli-Style

Where:           Tidewater Goethe State Forest Trailhead, Dunnellon FL

Trail Riding Parelli-Style Details:

We’ll prepare on the ground and in the saddle at the trailhead and then go out on trail using Parelli principles and techniques to keep it safe and fun.  Please be on time as we will need to leave as a group on trail. 

 

This workshop is open to varying levels.  You may bring a horse that’s never been on trail before (as long as your horse is started under saddle), or an experienced trail horse.  I will give tasks for you to try appropriate to your level and horse’s confidence on trail.  We will not be simply walking in a straight line on trail the entire ride. 

 

Picnic areas, water (for horses) and restrooms are available at the trailhead.  I recommend bringing your own water buckets.  There is a $2 entrance fee per vehicle to the park.

 

Directions:

From Ocala: Take Hwy 484 or Hwy 40 to Powell Road into Dunnellon.  In Dunnellon, take Hwy 40 WEST (also called Orlando Street) for 3.5 miles.  Take a slight right onto SW CR-336.  Continue approximately 8 miles.  Turn right onto CR-337.  Follow the brown sign for Tidewater Trail down the dirt road to the trailhead.

 

 From Inglis: drive 10 mi. north on US 19/US 98. Merge right (north) onto SR 121 and go 0.1 mi. to the intersection with CR 336. Continue north on SR 121 for 1.2 mi. Turn left (west) onto Cow Creek Rd. across from the state forest sign. The Tidewater Trailhead is approximately 2 miles down CR 337, 0.2 mi. north of the intersection with CR 336.

 

From my home:Turn left out of my driveway and drive west on NW 27th St.  Continue to end of road and take a left going south onto SR-121.  In approximately 1 mile, turn right onto CR-337.  Continue approximately 2 miles to Tidewater Trailhead on the left.

 

Other Info:

Please bring your horse’s negative Coggins, appropriate tack, carrot stick, and safety wear.
